FAQ

Can I catch a bus into Weymouth?

The X53 bus stops about half a mile from the park. There is a grass footpath that runs across a field down to the bus stop. Search "First Wessex X53" for the latest timetable. Our stop is between the Kings Arms at Portesham and Meadow Close at Chickerell. We have some printed copies of the most local section of the timetable available at reception. You can visit Bridport, West Bay, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door and (with a change in Weymouth) Portland and Dorchester too. Scroll down for our "53 things to do on the X53" booklet for ideas about places to visit on the bus.

Where else does the bus go?

The X53 and and the other Jurassic Coaster buses travel along the Jurassic Coast from Poole to Lyme Regis then onwards to Axminster.Timetables vary during the year so do ask at reception for the latest information. Our "53 things to do on the X53 bus leaflet is available in our information kiosk or to download here.

Can I bring my dogs?

Yes! We love dogs and well-behaved dog owners! We ask that your dog is kept on a short lead at all times and not left alone where they may get distressed or excited and bark frequently. We think that it is only polite to take them to the walk field for all “doggy business” and not to allow them to pee or poo on someone else’s pitch. The park and local walks are used a lot so we do ask you to pick up in all these areas. We have our own custom built doggy shower suitable for small and large canine friends and dogs are welcome in some sections of the Red Barn. Our doggy treat bags are very popular!

Where else can I take my dog?

Dogs are welcome at many places and there are some great places to walk. See our guide in the leaflet kiosk or download a copy here.

Where can I eat?

Our onsite bar, The Red Barn, is a great starting point and is open from Easter to October. We have more information in our leaflet kiosk - or you can download a copy here.

Are there Accessible attractions nearby?

We've compiled information on the accessibility of some of the most popular Dorset attractions. If you would like to visit somewhere which isn't listed then do ask at reception. If we don't know, we will be more than happy to research it for you.

What can we do if the weather isn't fabulous?

We hope that the weather will stay nice for your holiday with us but, should it get a bit damp, here is a list of ideas to keep the family amused - whatever the weather.

Are there beaches nearby?

The beautiful sandy beach at Weymouth is about five miles away. There is a dog-friendly section at each end, one on the sandy area by the Pavilion Theatre to the right as you look out to sea and another on the pebbly area from Greenhill out to Overcombe and beyond (this is the locals' choice). You can walk to the edge of the Fleet Lagoon - the footpath runs across two fields. It is about three-quarters of a mile. There is no recreation beach at this point but it is a lovely nature walk - similar to walking along a riverbank. There are lots of other great beaches in Dorset and many are accessible by bus.

Can I book over the phone?

Of course you can! Whether you have a question about pitch types, which area of the park would suit you best or what you can do while you are staying then we would love to hear from you. Call our friendly team from 9am each day.
